A lifelong journey of mineral collecting lead Jim Mann into the field of gem cutting and jewelry design. After 20 years of serving the jewelry industry (in both the mining and cutting of gemstones), Jim Mann opened his own jewelry store in Bethel, Maine. He has been self-employed for more than 35 years. His expertise in gem cutting is seeing the best gem inside each piece of rough material. Many of Mann's gems and minerals have found their way to the Maine State Museum, Harvard Mineralogical Museum, and to fine collections throughout the United States and abroad. On the second floor of Mt. Mann Jewelers is the studio where Jim and Joni Fox-Campbell create one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. Their style reflects both contemporary and traditional design; often using materials that most have never heard of. Both Jim and Joni use clean, simple lines to reflect and highlight the natural beauty of the stones themselves. Mt. Mann appeals to all budgets with a vast inventory of Maine's most popular gems: Tourmaline (including Watermelon), Amethyst, Morganite and Aquamarine. Other beautiful gems in our inventory from around the world are: Crystallized Malachite, polished Petrified Wood, Amethyst stalagtite crystals, and many more. These gems are available rough, finished, or set into fine hand-crafted jewelry. We have recently expanded our inventory to include healing stones, a few stone products and an extensive line of Quartz crystals. Although best known for our custon jewelry design, other services include jewelry repair and custom gem-cutting. Mt. Mann Jewelers produces 200 customer designed pieces a year. Many of our customers become very involved in the designing process-some even end up in the studio picking the perfect stone(s) for their custom pieces!
